programs for college and university students
Beneath the tree is for university/college aged students at Church on the Rock aged 18-25.

Who is a student, you may ask? Well, a student is anyone who is currently doing school or has just finished doing school or is about to start doing school.

Beneath the tree is about bringing God's kingdom here on earth. It is about a passionate commitment to being the presence of God wherever we are at.

All that happens in small groups and meeting together for services on Sundays.

The vision for beneath the tree can be found immersed in the book of Daniel. The imagery and idea of a tree comes out of Daniel chapter 4. The king of Babylon has a dream of how he is like a great and giant tree that covers the earth, that everything in the world is under his empire. The tree however, is cut down yet the stump is left so that if the king of babylon repents the tree will be made new again and his empire will be redeemed so that it may bring God's glory.

Living under the shadow of the king of babylon, Daniel was resilient in not compromising or conforming to the pressures he faced. It was through Daniel's integrity, faith, and prayers that he left such a profound impact on the world around him.

With the example of Daniel and through the life of Christ we want to shape our lives God's plans and purpose for our lives. The image of a tree like an empire and being under its shadow serves as a constant reminder that we live in a world that is not as it should be, that we are each 'beneath the tree' and are called to bring God's kingdom here on earth.

As college/university aged students at Church on the Rock, beneath the tree is about gathering together in small groups weekly where we can share, pray and serve together. That?s it. No big deal other then the potential of a group you join becoming a tremendous opportunity to grow and be deepened in what God has got for our lives.
